Spring Junior Fighters Competition Delivers Action & Excitement!

Congratulations to all the courageous young fighters who competed in the fifth installment of Junior Fighters on Saturday at Tiger Schulmann's state of the art training facility in Elmwood Park, NJ.   The air in the brand new building was electric from the opening bell of the first bout as the fighters gave the crowd something to cheer about with each match.   All of the hard work, dedication and discipline that went into each contestant's training truly showed as they kept the crowd roaring and on their feet throughout.

The competition was capped off with perhaps the most intense bout of the evening, the 140 lb limit modified mixed martial arts main event between Eric Vann (Eternal Martial Arts) and Jimmie Rivera (Team Tiger Schulmann's).   Rivera jumped to an early lead on Vann, controlling the first round with a combination of takedowns and body strikes.   His dominance continued into the second round, where a huge takedown left Rivera angling for a submission by arm bar.   Though unable to convert on this attempt, he quickly switched to a triangle choke, which led to Vann's submission 56 seconds into the second round!

Congratulations to all of our Junior Fighters who competed - we commend each and every one of you for your show of skill, technique and heart.
